These are all within 20 minutes each during class while I am waiting for the students to get their first round of lay-ins worked up...some great characters in LA...
Been admiring your work in your blog. So much understanding goes into each piece. Love the constructive sketches. Thank you for sharing. Seeing your work confirms I'm on the right track.
Wish I could pull a rope and haul your school into West Los Angeles. :)
Hey- you're pretty good. Some of your heads display such a beautiful sense of not just form (which I appreciate and aim for as well), but you're capturing the sense of the person. Enjoyed looking at your work, Ron.
I came across a drawing tutorial you did on drawing heads and that lead me here. Your draftsmanship is outstanding. Your sketches of figures and heads are absolutely beautiful. Any plans for a comprehensive online portfolio?

This was for a show we did at Studio2ndstreet called Changes. The Idea was to remove an idea from our culture that a commercial vehicle built; Thomas Kinkade's cottages do not represent quality fine art. First, that quality fine art is nothing more than a Print, or more eloquently put, a Giclee, that has a few factory placed(stamped) wax and varnish made raised brush strokes. Second, your print is number 47,043 of 50,000. Do you feel special with that fine uniue purchase that 50,000 others have? And not to mention the plates, mugs, cheap posters, t-shirts and g-strings that have the same image printed on them, but yes, it was a one of a kind...moment! What better way to remove this notion than to bring another pop idol in to do his thing? You can see the way he is charging up his fire pit deep within to exhale another poorly built psuedo-medieval cottage. You can also tell in his posture he is bored because there will be no one coming to fight against him with all th
We teach a class that goes over procedures for drawing the figure clothed. This semester was a really productive semester and all the students improved considerably from the beginning to the last class, and it was awesome to see the rapid growth. These are demonstrations and quick sketches from that class.
I hope this works. This is one of the videos I created for the latest ImagineFX DVD issue 30. It accompanies the article I did on drawing hands holding objects. Hope this works... This and other videos will be up on lemen-aid.com soon, a great place to go on the net for art instruction. Enjoy the videos and they will be more instructional sooner than later. These were all a test and experiment. Your comments will also help me organize the videos and get the right information to you. And yes, I used the Mattson 2 for the sounds...these videos were filmed on my own, I could not keep an eye on the monitor and draw under the time I had. I also filmed this with an Elph so I had no chance of checking out what was being filmed. More on the filming later when I draw up the diagram so it makes more sense. This is called dedication, or stupidity...:) Here is a diagram of the shoot to give you an idea how this first round went...invent as you go.:)
